Nikon D3000: Review
Amazon - amzn.to/3xBqP7F
Slik Tripods - amzn.to/3xC0nKy K&F Filters -amzn.to/4aGQJoF
The last CCD DSLR from Nikon, the D3000 was aimed at users who wanted a small and easy to use camera, that was affordable.
This entry model still remains popular today years after it's 2009 release, thanks to it's low price on the used market and simple operation.
In my review I provide comprehensive information on the D3000 including a body tour, menus and operation, as well as practical field tests and sample images.
These videos are very time consuming to make and I do so to help people find what gear that might work for them, even older items which can often be of interest.
Or you can use the affiliate links to Amazon, which help fund the cost of making these videos (at no cost to yourself). This helps quite a lot, as I buy in items to make review content like this. At my own expense

      I had a D7000, I had several honestly the D800 is a better camera in every way AF, sensor, build. But it's bigger and heavier (as you expect). D7K I found to be inconsistent for AF at times, I find the D800 much better (newer ones even more so but it's been good just get later production ones) You get almost the same resolution in crop mode on the D800, and you can get 6fps (if you have the AA's in the grip) good enough for most, I even find the 4fps isn't a problem. I wouldn't hesitate if you have the lenses

    Would be interesting to have a camera with an A mount style body for people who don't need compact, and native support for A mount lenses- only generic adaptor needed, and a motor built into the camera.

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews 6 днів тому

      Sadly Sony discarded A Mount users silently so I suspect other than the LAEA5 adapter (which only works on newer bodies for screw drive lenses), is all you're likely to get. It's something I suppose. If you like the E Mount bodies is another question in itself.

  • @RWD_Faiz
    @RWD_Faiz 7 днів тому

    Since you went strictly minolta, I thought I'd throw in some A mount alternatives :) 1. Tamron 90mm F2.8 This lens replaced my Sony 85 f2.8. Its slightly longer compared to the compact 85, but its about the same size as the Minolta 100mm. Usually cheaper compared to the Minolta and covers the same range. 2. Tokina 20-35mm f3.5-f4.5 Not as wide or as fast as the Tamron/Minolta 17-35. But covers the same range. Got mine for around £60. I feels it is sharp and a good value for wide angle photography. 3. Minolta 24-50 f4 Sold mine since I got the Tokina, but this lens is nice for indoor events and general compact walkabout when paired with the beercan. Usually people say the 35-70 performs better. But considering the wider fov, I think the performance is acceptable. 4. Tokina 11-16 f2.8 This APSC lens has full frame coverage at 16mm. It heavy but it doubles up nicely for situations where you really need that ultrawide end. I treated it as a 16mm f2.8 prime on my A99.

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews 7 днів тому

      Thanks for that yes I wanted to just include Minolta (though a few are Tamron designs) The 11-16mm was a smart move for Tokina, Sony never bothered to update the APS-C Ultra Wide zoom and that lens is far superior to the old Tamron designed 11-18mm one. It's tricky v the 100mm Minolta to the Tamron 90mm, I like the Tamron a lot but felt the Minolta has a slight edge for rendering at longer distances. Both are excellent though. The Sigma 105mm is probably optically the best lens for Macro Users (the latest version), though it's a bit heavier/larger.

But I would say resolution isn't something I find to be worth worrying about, it was only the very early cameras where it was very limited.

    Why on earth did they choose a dedicated dial for WB on what’s called a beginners camera???

    • @MrBazReviews
      @MrBazReviews 11 днів тому

      I mention about this v the A100. But really it depends what you want. If you look at something like the A200 which has reduced controls and only a single top plate dial, then this is clearly better. You could argue make it an ISO dial, but then how to change that with the eye to viewfinder holding the lens? The good part is you're much more likely to use the WB settings on this camera, as it has that dial. A100 puts a lot more function on the dial, but loses the Fn menu and ISO button - that's not ideal either.

      Well the 2 5D's I have don't have IBIS problems, but you have to be a bit more careful (ie don't drop them!) I might do a video on the 7D I can borrow one, lot more controls, larger body, bigger VF but same output as the 5D (metering is a bit different) Evidently all 7D's had the first black frame issue, so check if it was fixed/repaired. I sent my 5D in and got it fixed under warranty (been working fine since). That's likely more a problem then the IBIS.

      I don't know what cells you are charging but if it's Li-ion the UI1/2 work just great with a solar panel. In my experience it's not much point using more than a 2 slot charger, unless it's a big solar panel.
